For World Mental Health Day: A List of BC (and online) Mental Health Care Providers
October 10, 2018 7 minute read

We all have something. We will all live with death and loss and trauma. These experiences are universal but the way that we experience them is uniquely ours. The fact that we all meet grief does not invalidate our stories or our need to share them. They matter. You matter.

There are things that can help make that unrelenting ache soften and people who can provide tools to give you the strength to lift what is yours to carry. You will learn how to move forward, not move on. And even though it will never be ok that you have lost what you have lost, one day you will feel better. Even if you don’t want to. Even if you can’t imagine how that could be true when such an integral part of your life is missing. You will feel better. And one day this truth will be a comfort.

Before I share this list, I want to thank everyone who offered up a resource and everyone who confided in me and said that they needed this list too. I also have to add the disclaimer that I cannot personally endorse any of the counsellors or psychologists suggested as I’ve had no experience with any (yet). But my hope is that it will give you a good place to start your research and then consult with any other necessary health care professionals on your team. These were recommended based off of positive personal experiences from others, and I hope that this is reflected in the support they can provide and the healing they can nurture.
